Mets offer Reyes arbitration
This news could not come at a more expected time the Mets have offered Jose Reyes arbitration. Doubtful that Reyes will accept arbitration, because it would only give him one year in New York. The deal was offered mainly to make sure if Reyes didn't sign with the Mets they would receive something in return.
Terms of the arbitration:
- If Reyes signs with a team who finished top 15 in the league, the Mets will receive two picks to compensate for Reyes
- If Reyes signs with a team who finished in the bottom 15 and has a top 10 pick the Mets would receive a second round pick and another along with it.

Alderson’s comments on Reyes
After watching the MLB network tonight I have found some new info out about the Jose deal.
"We’ve expressed our continuing interest. At the same time, they understand that, we and they both need to see where the market goes – and the marketplace will determine where he goes, whether that’s with us or someone else. The greater issue is what effect it has on the relationship between the fans and the team. And, that’s always a consideration. There are a handful of players with whom fans identify and in our case Jose is one of them. It doesn’t determine what we will or won’t do, but we have to take it in to account and we are.”
Clearly neither side of this deal is budging. The Marlins have reportedly offered Jose a 90 million dollar deal over 5 years. However I do not think Jose will accept this deal from the Marlins, I do think they have plenty of money to work with. Speculations that the Marlins want to build their newly refurbished team around Reyes, is a bit scary being a Met fan. However I'm going to stick with my gut although it's not looking spot on right now give it some time talks will continue to heat up between the Mets and Reyes. Jose wants 100 million and at this point he will get a 100 million dollar deal over five years.

2012 Jerseys
Earlier today Adam Rubin of ESPN New York posted on his twitter the 2012 Mets jerseys
Keeping it simple is the way to go and the Mets will keep the same look as last year. Although there is one idea I think they should have taken into consideration. It is not spanish heritage every night I think the mets should have brought in these colors instead of the alternate black.
However they will not be added right away into the Jersey rotation the blue jerseys will be used sometimes in 2012, and placed in the roatation during the 2013 season.
I enjoy the fact the Mets went back to the classic lettering of the 1962 jerseys because it is the 50th anniversary.
Tune in tomorrow to hear the news around the majors report and special news on Jose Reyes.
