Willie Harris’ wife loses baby

Posted by Jake Lublin

Willie Harris has been placed on the bereavement list which means he can return in 3-7 days.

During last nights 16-9 win over the Tigers Willie Harris flew back to New York to be with his wife who went into labor early at five weeks.  Unfortunately the baby didn't survive.

Truly horrible news, my thoughts and prayers go out to Willie and the whole Harris Family

Rangers interested in K-Rod and Beltran

Posted by Jake Lublin

The weeks going into the trade deadline for the Mets are going to be crucial.

Carlos Beltran could be one of the big names being shipped around from the Mets.  Beltran came to the Mets after having his big postseason with the Astros in 2004.  Beltran had major knee surgery last offseason which made people question his durability, although this season he has been playing the outfield on a daily basis without a problem.  Also, this offseason Beltran made the switch to right field for the reasons that Angel Pagan fit his way into the starting center fielders job, and it was less work on the knees for Carlos.

We all know the situation with K-Rod if he finishes 55 games for the Mets this will kick in his option where the Mets will need to pay him 17.5m for the one year.  This year Sandy Alderson has said that the payroll will be no more than 120m, saying his option kicks in he will take up 15% of the payroll.  At this point shipping Frankie seems like a good idea because paying 17.5m for a year is a bit ridiculous.  Losing K-Rod wont be the worse that will happen to the team if they decide to ship him over the trade deadline.

As for Jose Reyes we will have to wait and see at this point its up in the air if he will still be on the team after the trade deadline and then even after free agency

David Wright and Johan Santana will both be coming off of the trade deadline soon, which could mean they also might be playing a roll in the trade deadline.
