Gone at last

Posted by Jake Lublin

The mets have made some notable recent cuts releasing Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo.  This news came abruptly to the Mets fans after both were in the picture for jobs such as the highly competitive 2nd base race, and the developing pitching situation.  After an off and on five years with the Mets they made it clear that Ollie had no spot where he could fit in the rotation/bullpen.  Also coach Terry Collins made it clear that Ollie also did not have the velocity he used to which was another impact on the releasing.  Also the with the Mets releasing veteran 2nd baseman Luis Castillo this opens up the race to the starting 2nd basemen to look like a two man show between Daniel Murphy and Brad Emaus. As the news leaked out that Castillo was being released it became known that he asked for this to happen.  After being cut the Mets division rival Phillies picked up the Veteran Castillo. After all the problems with these two we can finally say farewell .... guess no more dropping fly balls.
